As the resident single girl in my friend group- mostly by choice… but that’s a story for another day- I don’t pay much attention to Valentine’s Day. I usually find myself eating way too many cookies or opening presents.. from my mom…
However, this year I wanted to create a makeup look that I might wear if i were going out. And whilst I may not have actual plans, (longing sigh) I enjoyed creating this look.
I started out with my trusty Smashbox Color Correcting Stick in Light and covered up my under eyes, any dark spots, and any area that needed highlighting.
Then I went in with my Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Med/Dark 1- which is a little light for me right now because I’m in between colors, but that’s ok! We’ll fix that later…
After foundation I went in with my favorite- Nars Creamy Concealer and hit all the same spots that I did with my Smashbox Pencil.
Now, after everything is blended. I’m baked everything with my beauty blender and my Laura Mercier Brightening Setting Powder.
And while everything was setting I worked on my eyeshadow. Now, I don’t know if I’d ever wear this look out, but I thought it was a fun way to show my valentine’s day spirit— well… what’s left of it anyways…
I started with my Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette, using “Venetian Red” in the corners and the crease, then blended it out with “Buon Fresco” on the lid and going up towards the crease.
Next, I went in with Maybelline’s Color Tattoo Metal in “Inked in Pink” all over the lid and then topped that with Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette in “Pink champagne.”
Now that the shadow is done, I decided to go with a cat eye with Too Faced Sketch Marker in black, and then donned my Flutter Lashes—the @MakeupShayla Edition.
Now that my face was properly set. I brushed off all the excess powder and started to add some warmth back into my face with my Too Faced Cocoa Contour Kit— contouring my cheekbones and nose with Medium Cocoa and then bronzing the rest of my face with Dark Cocoa.
I added some definition to my eyebrows with a Highlight Pencil in the base color and the gold shimmer.
For lips I decided to go with a combination of my favorite products, using the Bite Beauty Lip Pencil in 020 & 044 and then the Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb.
Lastly, I went in with my trusty Nars Blush in Dolce Vita, and then, since I wanted a very pronounced highlight, I used one of my foundation brushes and my Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit Sun Dipped in Tourmaline on all the high points of my face.
Finally setting everything with Urban Decay’s De-Slick Setting Spray, I was ready for my big night…in… sitting on my couch… eating cookies… well, better luck next year!
I hope you enjoyed this look, and if you want to see it in action click this and check it out.
Until next time,
